Admissions Process

Aside from the general admissions requirements for the College of Computing and Engineering, international prospects must follow specific requirements as outlined in the course catalog. These requirements include:

  • Enrollment Deposit Fee. If you’re using the F-1 visa, an Enrollment Deposit Fee of $500 will be required to process your accepted I-20. Once you’re officially enrolled in classes, this deposit will go towards your tuition costs.
    • This deposit is not refundable in the event of a withdrawal or non-registration.
    • An I-20 cannot be issued to a provisionally admitted student. All official documents and the $500 deposit fee must be submitted.
    • Our doctoral programs do not offer a full-time, on campus format. Therefore, an I-20 cannot be issued for our doctoral programs.
  • Prerequisite Degree. If your prerequisite degrees were completed outside of the United States, it must be equivalent to a regionally-accredited United States degree in a related field, with a GPA meeting the admissions requirements.
    • To enable the college to determine equivalencies, the applicant must have their degree evaluated by an agency that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). A course-by-course transcript evaluation with a GPA calculation is required. For current information on evaluation agencies visit www.naces.org/members.
  • English Proficiency. Applicants whose native language is not English are required to demonstrate English proficiency. The following standardized tests satisfy the university's English requirement for nonnative English speakers. Minimum scores must be met. Official test results must be sent directly from the testing agency to Nova Southeastern University. Institution codes for sending official scores are listed respectively.
  • An applicant can qualify for an exemption from taking an English proficiency examination if one of the following criteria is met:
    • Successful completion of at least a bachelor's degree at a regionally-accredited U.S. institution of higher education.
    • Passing Level 5 with at least 85% at Talk International Language School.
    • Completion of a degree at an institution in one of the following countries: Australia, English speaking Canada, Ghana, Ireland, New Zealand, or the United Kingdom.
  • Note: Master's students can participate and complete their master's program without having to travel to the United States.

Student Testimonials

Home Country: Saudi Arabia
M.S. in Management Information Systems, '14

I came across NSU when studying English in Miami and I found that South Florida was a good area to bring up a family. The weather was also very attractive as it was similar to Saudi Arabia. I had a great NSU experience as I was able to experience a lot. I became the President of the Saudi Arabia Student organization and I got to meet other international students and share experiences with them. I found the professors to be very qualified and I was able to learn more than what the class was about and get real-life stories and insight into the technology industry. The student life at NSU is great as they really encourage students to be involved on campus and in the community. I could have studied this major back home but it is different to be exposed and immersed in another country's culture and represent your home country and that alone that has been a great accomplishment for me. NSU is very diverse so it makes it easy for any student to adapt to the school environment. I'd welcome any international student to become a part of our NSU community.

Florida was always my first choice. I attended the University of Tampa for my bachelor's and heard great things about Nova Southeastern University (NSU) for a graduate degree. I was happy to compliment my bachelor's degree that was more management oriented with the M.S. in MIS that focused more on technology. NSU is a great school with nice and helpful students and I would recommend other international students to join NSU! I hope to one day become a Data Analyst and NSU has prepared me for this role."
