At Nova Southeastern University, we understand that our students’ needs go beyond academics, which is why we proudly present the NSU Shark Food Pantry: your resource for stigma-free support and sustenance. Open to current NSU students, this pantry is driven by the spirit of community and generosity.

Our shelves are stocked with non-perishable essentials, thanks to the contributions of NSU staff, faculty, local community members, and student groups. From canned proteins and fruits to dairy, vegetables, and nourishing soups, we offer a diverse selection to meet your dietary needs. Toiletries and feminine hygiene products are also available through the pantry program.

Our mission is simple: we're here to alleviate hunger and food insecurity, ensuring that the NSU community thrives and succeeds. Visit us on the 2nd Floor of the Don Taft University Center, right above the Arena Box Office and near the Arena South Entrance. Remember to bring your NSU ID to access this valuable resource.

Frequently Asked Questions

To visit the food pantry, review our student/visitor expectations (PDF) and bring your student ID to the pantry located on the 2nd floor of the Don Taft University Center. At checkout, you won’t need your wallet: all pantry food is free for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students alike.

We recommend students take a maximum of 10 lbs of food per week, with an addition of 5 toiletry items. However, we make an exception for feminine products; students may take as many of these as they need.

Inside the pantry, you’ll find a bin where foods and hygiene products can be donated. Visit our wish list for examples of products we’re often in need of. If you’re looking for a donation bin for your office, store, or other organization, email foodpantry@nova.edu.

NSU’s Department of Public Safety launched the “Parking with a Purpose” program to support the NSU Shark Food Pantry. Parking with a Purpose allows you to pay for your parking citation by donating specific items to the Shark Food Pantry. Your donation can cover the entire amount of citation or partial. You are allowed to participate in this program once a year.

How It Works:

To “pay” your parking citation via the NSU Shark Food Pantry Parking with a Purpose program you will need to purchase items listed on the Shark Food Pantry Wish List (PDF) within the 14-day timeframe stated on the citation. This donation will need to be delivered to the Shark Food Pantry located in the Don Taft University Center, 2nd floor – South Side Concession Stand during operating hours.

You must include the receipt to verify that the donation value matches the citation amount you are trying to cover. If the receipt is not included, the donation will not be approved to “pay” your parking citation.

You will then complete a form at the Shark Food Pantry verifying your Parking with a Purpose donation. Once the donation is received by the Shark Food Pantry within the 14-day citation period, Shark Food Pantry personnel will notify the Department of Public Safety.

Thank you to Publix, Trader Joe's, Pepsi, Southeastern Grocers, The Public Interest Law Society, Swipe Out Hunger, and to all donors, organizations, students, staff, and faculty that donate to the Shark Pantry. Your support goes a long way!
