NSU Shark Food Pantry

The NSU Shark Food Pantry serves current NSU students.  The pantry is donations based.  All the food distributed comes from donations made by staff, faculty, members of the community, and student groups. The student food pantry provides non-perishable food items including canned proteins, fruits, dairy, vegetables, and soups. Toiletry items are also provided in our pantry.  Our mission is to help the NSU community thrive by reducing hunger and food insecurity.

What is the aim of the food pantry?

  • As a team, we want to bring awareness to food insecurities among college students; we launched the food pantry as a way for students to have more access to food resources and a place where they can have a sense of belonging and food availability.

Do I have to pay for the food?

  • Nope. The food in the pantry is free for all students, undergraduate to graduate. However, it is required for students to bring in an ID with them to the pantry to sign a waiver once they checkout.

How many items am I allowed to take?

  • We recommend students take a maximum of 10 lbs. of food per week with an addition of 5 toiletry items. But the only exception we make is for feminine products, as we allow students to take as many as they need.
Am I allowed to donate? And where do I donate?
  • Yes, absolutely. We accept all kinds of donations for the food pantry. Our team has a bin inside the pantry where you can donate foods and or hygiene products. We recommend those who are donating check out our wish list.
