On October 7, 2014 NSU was re-designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance/Cyber Defense for academic years 2014-2021 by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). NSU first received this designation in March 2005.
The National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has certified that NSU's curriculum in information security meets or exceeds the requirements and standards expected of a leader in cyber security research and education. In particular, NSA and DHS recognized that NSU's graduate curriculum met the additional requirements for educational specializations in Network Security Engineering and Security Policy Development and Compliance.
According to the NSA and DHS, the Centers of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education are key to helping the nation's security solutions keep pace with evolving technology and addressing the critical shortage of professionals needed to defend America's cyberspace.
